1995 was pretty much the same as 1996 in terms of format with a week’s preparatory rehearsals for an and event. this time the course culminated in evensong at St Johns College Cambridge with choirmaster Timothy Brown. As pert the flyer on the left.
I had a very good voice teacher this time in David Lowe the then Head of Vocal Studies at the Royal Academy of Music who gave me tips and a lovely reference. He was the head of dept when Katherine Jenkins was there and she was in the same round of auditions as me in 1996. I wasn’t taken at the academy but at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama at the Barbican in London.
We sang the absolute King of Romantic Anthems in Elgar’s Give Unto the Lord appropriate now especially it was premiered on the Eve of WWI in 1914.
