My Connection to the Choir
In 2002 I was asked to do a concert for free with the Wupperfeld Chamber Choir directed by a graduate of Essen Conservatoire Karsten Zündorf. The concert was of Monteverdi’s Vespers of our Blessed Virgin Mary a recording of which I’ve included below. A link to this history of the choir is included above.
Monteverdi is one of the most original composers in history. He invented Baroque music and opera and was the court composer at Mantua just outside Venice in Italy in about 1600. His work spans both Late Renaissance and Early Baroque. His harmony is incredible and like no other so I was delighted to do one of his more famous pieces with such a great choir and soloists.
Off the back of this concert I was head hunted by Karsten’s then wife Maijke Wiechelt for a set of professional concerts in Cologne.
